Sulgrave Manor is a house like no other. Bought jointly through public subscription from both the UK and USA in 1914 to preserve the ancestral home of George Washington, the property has been a unique heritage attraction for over 100 years sharing inspiring stories of cooperation and collaboration. Today, we welcome new audiences to this heritage and encourage debate about what the relationship means and how we can tolerate differences and better understand each another for common benefit.

As an independent charity we receive no government or public funding and so we are dependent on the support provided by individuals and grants to fund all the areas of our work, from conservation and maintenance of the house and collection, to new acquisitions, education, research, maintaining our garden and staging events. In addition to our ongoing property costs we are always keen to develop projects and find different ways to engage with new audiences.
