Silent Space is a small charity based on a very simple concept. It encourages gardens open to the public to keep an area for silent visiting – rather like the quiet carriage on a train. We, the visitors, are silent but the sounds of the garden and its surroundings continue around us.
Time spent in the Sulgrave Manor Silent Space is likely to deliver a calming experience, through exposure to many of the elements you’d expect from a long-established garden. Firstly, its location, set back from the path and outside of key garden areas, will ensure that anyone who chooses to sit on the bench or pause in the space for a while is likely to remain undisturbed. Secondly, and with an old stone wall behind, views sweep over a small lawn that is managed for wild flowers, to a rural scene that includes thatched cottages, grazed paddocks, hedgerows, mature trees and farmland. Rural traffic is occasional, and horses are frequently exercised along the lane and in the adjacent paddock. By and large, birdsong will dominate.
We are now open for the season on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays until Sunday 30th October 2022.
We are taking bookings for wedding and events for 2023 and beyond. Contact us for more information.
