The
Tudors
The Great Hall.
|
The Tudors is the foundation of the programme offered
at Sulgrave.
Very much a curriculum based, structured day, a costumed
member of the Manor's Education Team meets the children
on arrival.
The children and adults will either walk through to
the Courtyard Hall or the Brewhouse/Buttery. The children
may then put on a 4-piece costume for the day.
During their visit the group will participate in various
Tudor presentations, not necessarily in the following
order:
|
|
The Royals
Our costumed presenters will cover the story of
the Tudor dynasty, using role-play. Commencing with
Henry VII and following through to the death of
Henry VIII or Elizabeth Tudor, some great events
of the time will be reenacted including social changes,
religion, work and crime. |
|
|
The House Tour
The children will see the House, begun in 1539.
They will spend time in Mr Lawrence Washington's
Great Hall, Kitchen and Bedchamber. Aspects of social
history within the Tudor period will compare the
lives of the rich with the poor, the past and the
present; many influences on the people of the time
will be covered. The children may be divided into
two groups. |
